Benedictine University Master of Public Health
Benedictine University’s Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) program is the second largest in Illinois. The program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and offered online with flexible Web courses designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the field.
Students enrolled in Benedictine’s M.P.H. program participate in research studies and fieldwork opportunities to engage with communities and organizations. The program prepares graduates to develop public health programs that respond to the health care and environmental needs of specific groups of people. In addition to the general M.P.H. degree, students also may select from four areas of focus (all of which lead to a graduate certificate in addition to the Masters) or a dual degree which can be completed in 9 fewer courses than earning each individually:
- MPH – focus in Emergency Preparedness
- MPH – focus in Health Education and Promotion
- MPH – focus in Health Policy and Management
- MPH – focus in Epidemiology
- MPH/MBA Dual Degree

Master of Public Health - Emergency Preparedness
The Emergency Preparedness certificate of Benedictine University's Master of Public Health (MPH) emphasizes the many skills necessary to prevent disasters from a health standpoint. Students learn to assess risk, develop plans, communicate with various organizations and populations, act in accordance with established models and practices and aid in recovery.
Master of Public Health - Health Education & Promotion
The Health Education and Promotion certificate of Benedictine University's Online Master of Public Health (MPH) is designed for persons who participate in or lead health promotion activities in a variety of settings. Health educators are employed in health departments, health maintenance organizations, hospitals, employee assistance programs, voluntary organizations and social service agencies.
Master of Public Health - Health Management & Policy
The Health Management and Policy certificate of Benedictine University's Online Master of Public Health (MPH) is designed for health care professionals who participate in policy development. Health policy originates at many different levels in health care and professional organizations, and in government. It requires that the professional be able to assess the adequacy of current practices and to be able to recommend changes.
Master of Public Health - Epidemiology
The Epidemiology certificate of Benedictine University's Online Master of Public Health (MPH) is designed to equip students with the skills to apply biostatistical and research methods that will uncover the patterns, causes and effects of disease, and ultimately help solve public health issues. Students will learn to uncover trends and minimize the risk and incidence of negative health outcomes.
Dual MBA/MPH Degree
Benedictine University’s online dual Master of Business Administration / Master of Public Health (MBA/MPH) program allows you to combine advanced business studies with coursework in public health. You will earn the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited MPH and the MBA in 24 courses — as opposed to the 33 courses that would be required taking each individually.
